Spring Food Plotting

With the early warm weather and the snow being gone in most places it's time to start preparing for spring food plotting! It's a good time to get and take a peek at your plots and check for places that need trimming for additional sunlight, taking soil samples, and checking for weed issues. You can always mix in a little shed hunting and spring scouting.
This spring I will be planting one of my plots with Frigid Forage Plow Down Clover which will then be turned/plowed down in July. The plot will Then be replaced with a fresh mix of Big N Beasty seed. Frigid Forage Plow Down Clover is a mix of annual and bi annual clovers that act as a cover crop, provides high protein nutrition and when it gets plowed down ads green manure to your food plot for an excellent organic fertilizer.
Other clover, chicory, alfalfa etc. like the Frigid Forage blends are perennial blends. Pure Trophy Clover, Wild Game Buffet, and Wall Hanger. Whitetail Institute also offers a variety of quality perennial blends for spring planting that if taken care of they can provide 3-5 years of forage for your deer herd.
Frigid Forage Plot Screen is great for screening out visibility from things that deer don't like. Plot Screen is an annual and should be planted in spring and early summer so it gets tall and thick.
The Monster Magnet seed blend by Frigid Forage is another annual that needs to be planted in spring and has a wider variety of plants that will attract all kinds of wildlife. It should only be planted when soil temps stay above 50 degrees.
So get out there, get your hands dirty and remember to keep it fun this spring! Thanks for reading.
